PERFORMING ARTS PERSPECTIVES - ORDER YOUR DVD TODAY!

Missed out on tickets to this year's Performing Arts Perspectives? Well don't despair because this unique event celebrating the extraordinary talents of the highest scoring Year 12 students in music, drama and dance from 2009 has been captured on DVD for the viewing pleasure of the performers, their families and friends, teachers, sponsors and the wider performing arts loving community. Download the order form here. DVD's cost $25 each and must be ordered by March 31. Remember too to let the organisers know that you are interested in purchasing tickets to Performing Arts Perspectives 2011 by filling in the section at the bottom of the form. Congratulations to all those who participated and our thanks to the very enthusiastic audience who raised the roof of His Majesty's Theatre for the second year running with their thunderous applause.

 

AUSTRALIAN CURRICULUM - update

The first phase of the Australian Curriculum (English, mathematics, science and history) was released on Monday March 1 by the Deputy Prime Minister and the Federal Education Minister, the Hon Julia Gillard. www.australiancurriculum.edu.au

The Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) will work collaboratively with state and territory education authorities and with selected schools to gather feedback on the draft curriculum.

The Arts, along with geography and languages, will be included in the 2nd phase development of the Australian Curriculum.  To find out more about the 2nd phase Arts curriculum development go to the ACARA website.

 

ARTS & THE ENVIRONMENT FREE PD Day for Art teachers and pre-service teachers

Teachers and pre-service teachers of the Arts are invited to attend a full day professional development workshop on Friday May 21 hosted by the Perth Hills EcoEducation Centre in Mundaring. This informative and interactive day will have you exploring the Arts in the context of environment and Aboriginal culture. Aboriginal Leaders Leonard Thorne, Trevor Walley and Gudathada (Zac) Walker will lead practical activities in the natural environment which demonstrate the variety of programs that school classes engaged in Arts programs can participate in.
