PERFORMING ARTS PERSPECTIVES 2010 SOLD OUT!
Following the success of last year's Performing Arts Perspectives, tickets sold out within days of being released last December for the 2010 showcase to be held at His Majesty's Theatre on March 3. This year marks the 13th year of Performing Arts Perspectives and will showcase the talents of the selected candidates from 2009 subjects and courses in Drama, Music and Dance. At last year's event young people of all ages, parents, friends and teachers raised the roof of His Majesty's Theatre with their deafening applause as they enjoyed the performances of a variety of future performing arts stars including Caitlin Huxtable on Violin, drama performer Nicolas Pages-Oliver and the contemporary dancers who performed the original work Unfurl.
On the rush of ticket sales, Performing Arts Perspectives Steering Committee member Lorraine Scorer said, "I'm ecstatic! The short time it took before the showcase had sold out is testament to the popularity of this very special event. I am also so delighted that the education community continues to support Performing Arts Perspectives so very strongly and values the importance of promoting the excellence of student achievement in the performing arts."
If you were unlucky enough to miss out on purchasing tickets to the March 3 showcase at His Majesty's Theatre and to avoid disappointment in the future, make a note in your diary to visit the ArtsEdge website in Term 4 for details on next year's event.
ARTSEDGE forms partnership with Perth Cultural Centre Venues
In 2009 ArtsEdge has worked collaboratively with Perth Cultural Centre venues the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Western Australian Museum-Perth and the State Library of Western Australia to deliver unique professional development (PD) sessions for WA educators. In 2010 we are pleased to announce that this partnership will continue. On March 15; Thinking Inside the Triangle will enable educators to visit all three venues and reshape their perceptions of these Cultural Centre excursion venues. Later in this same week on March 18, all teachers (not only those teaching the arts) and pre-service teachers are invited to attend Uncovering the History of Western Australia. To find out more about these FREE PD opportunities for educators, read about each event here: March 15 PD / March 18 PD. RSVP now to avoid disappointment!
