Arts in Education Collegial Group
ArtsEdge and the Department of Culture and the Arts Development and Strategy Directorate work in partnership with Murdoch University to support the Arts in Education Collegial Group. A strong focus for this group is to develop and maintain a research register which contains information on current arts in education research projects happening within Western Australia.
Arts in Education in the Australian Context
The Australia Council for the Arts is currently focused on the potential of education and the arts in Australia from the national perspective.
Education and the Arts emerged as a key priority and major area of focus after a National Seminar on Education and the Arts held in February 2002. The National Education and the Arts Network was established with the aim being to improve the links between education and the arts in Australia. A number of research projects commenced, with the purpose being to evaluate and measure the benefits of arts education in Australian schools, while building a body of Australian research that will inform future strategic development in arts education throughout the nation.
Priority 1 of the Education and the Arts Strategy 2004 - 2007 further confirmed the commitment of the Australia Council to research, particularly relating to the impact of school-based arts activities.
As information on these research projects become available they will be included wherever possible.
