About the program

Managed for the Federal Government by the Australia Council for the Arts  the Artist-in-Residence (AiR) Grants Program was launched in Western Australia by Minister for Culture and the Arts John Day and Minister for Education Dr. Elizabeth Constable in June 2009.

The AiR Grants Program provided project funding to support artist-in-residence activity in Western Australian public schools and universities (Faculties of Education) to improve students' access to high-quality arts in education programs, and to develop effective teaching methods and practices for the arts in Western Australia.

Delivered through ArtsEdge, the program concluded in October 2015. Eight projects were funded in this final grant round and were completed by December 2016. The final activity associated with the Artist-in-Residence (AiR) Commission at Murdoch University, the AiR Summer School @ Murdoch, took place in January 2017.
