FotoFreo 2008
The City of Fremantle Festival of Photography
FotoFreo is keen to encourage teachers of photomedia to get involved with this year's festival and for them to arrange tours of the many and varied exhibitions that are taking place.
They are offering any secondary or tertiary teacher free travel on scheduled and guided bus tours that will take place commencing Monday the 7th of April.
Make sure you don't miss out (and to assist the hard working volunteers at FotoFreo!) by reserving your place by emailing FotoFreo bookings ... though if you find yourself with an unexpected opportunity during the holidays just make yourself known to the Tour Guide Leader and supply them with the details of your school, subjects being taught and contact details.
The team at FotoFreo are also able to assist teachers by providing advice on the content and types of tours that can be arranged (perhaps consider a walking tour of Fremantle or Northbridge venues!) Email Graham Miller to obtain an education pack which contains illustrated information sheets on each of the core exhibitions and some of the fringe exhibitions.
Check out the full program ... and don't forget the amazing opportunities this festival presents (particularly during the school holidays!) for students of visual arts, communication and media!

Jazz Now! Jazz Camp 2008
Since its inception in 2002, Jazz Camp has become one of the highlights of the musical calendar and an inspiring experience for many young jazz students, and this year will be no exception!
A 4-day workshop program running 14th - 17th July 2008 and held at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Jazz Camp provides a unique environment including instrument master classes, ensemble workshops, big band workshops, improvisation classes and daily concerts presented by local, national and international jazz luminaries. The camp culminates in a concert by the students for parents and friends.
Much of the success of Jazz Camp can be attributed to the vision and passion of State Jazz Coordinator, Alan Corbet, whose untimely passing earlier this month has left a legacy that will be celebrated through the presentation of two scholarships.
In recognition and memory of Alan, ArtsEdge in partnership with JazzWA present the Alan Corbet Jazz Camp 2008 Scholarship whcih will be awarded to one regional and one metropolitan student, covering the registration cost of the camp.
With such a huge line up of talent and the incredible opportunities on offer, please encourage your students to apply for this year’s scholarship and register as soon as possible as places are filling fast.
