breaking news!

ArtsEdge attends WA Local Government Convention

Held at Burswood Convention Centre at the beginning of August, ArtsEdge presented as part of a focus group looking at People, Arts and Culture

This workshop led by writer, director and performer Lockie McDonald, and featured presentations by David Doyle (DADAA WA) as well as Elizabeth Spencer (Young People and Education @ DCA) and Fiona, and showcased ways in which culture and the arts can set communities on more positive trajectories.

It was an amazing opportunity to speak to and meet with representatives of local governments throughout Western Australia and to hear about (and promote new!) partnerships between councils and schools... image the amazing wealth of opportunities schools, artists and local government working together could bring to your community!

Interested in ideas from this workshop?  Just give us a cal!

Healthway announce a new funding program!

Healthway is offering financial assistance to Western Australian school communities through the introduction of the Health In Schools Through the Arts (HISTA) Grants. This new program complements the formal agreement signed by the Departments of Health and Education and Training to deliver health promotion in schools.

Schools can apply for up to $2,500 to undertake activities that promote the priority health areas of mental health, nutrition and/or physical activity.

Projects must be designed using arts activities, such as visual arts and performance activities, to address and promote one or more of the priority health issues.  Activities should be aligned to the health promoting schools framework and therefore be linked closely with the curriculum, as well as the school environment and broader community.

All schools throughout Western Australia are eligible to apply, and applications are particularly encouraged from schools in rural and remote areas and those with high numbers of Indigenous students.

Applications can be accepted at any time but must be lodged at Healthway at least three (3) calendar months before the commencement of the project.

For more information, or to discuss your ideas, please contact Healthway on 08 9476 7000 or 1800 198 450 or via email at healthway@healthway.wa.gov.au
