Collaborative Workshop 2-Understanding Mathematics through Movement

​Felicity Bott, Director of AusdanceWA, and Dr Raffaella Demichelis, Early Career Research Fellow, at the Department of Chemistry, Curtin University, presented a collaborative workshop exploring symmetry operations (reflection, rotation and translation) through Dance.

Collaborative discussions were facilitated by Joanne Hart, Teacher Development School Coordinator (Numeracy), Forest Crescent Primary School and Judy Hendrickse, Teacher Development School Coordinator (Dance), John Curtin College of the Arts.

Workshop outline
Participants were taken through a series of physical movements which embodied the mathematical concepts of symmetry i.e. mirroring, rotation and translation. The full workshop outline can be downloaded here.
