Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse (Perth, Western Australia)

Indigenous Act of the Year at the WA Music Industry (WAMi) Awards 2013. Gina and Guy's performance incorporates storytelling and beautiful original songs. They are also available to teach a special welcome song they've written, which is targeted specifically at Primary School students. Gina and Guy are also available to spend time with teachers to teach them the welcome song, so students have an ongoing benefit from their session. They are also able to run introductory songwriting sessions for school students.

Name of people/language group: Gina is Noongar (Balladong) with links to the Kitja people of the East Kimberley.

Suitability: Students Years 1 to 6.
Cost: $660 incl. GST per one hour session for performances or workshops in the Perth metropolitan area. Regional area visits will incur additional travel costs (which can be negotiated on a case by case basis).

Professional learning opportunities for teachers: Teachers learn the 'welcome song', a song written in language so they can continue singing songs with their students. Gina and Guy provide notated, sheet music with chords and links to online resources as part of this workshop.
